NICE TO MEET YOU

Hi, I'm Minaa!

I’m a Psychology graduate turned full-time content creator and the face behind Saffron & Sunday. I live in the Netherlands with my husband and our cat who can’t decide if she’s sweet or spicy (she’s both). What started as just a space for recipes turned into a little slow café on the internet where I share food, thoughts, and everything in between. So happy to have you here!

My Story

Five years ago, in between my undergraduate thesis and the world going through a pandemic, I tried teaching myself how to cook.

It all started with a takeout craving. Lockdown hit, my favorite place was closed, and I thought, “Maybe I can make this myself, it’s not that hard?”

Turns out, it failed pretty hard. My first attempt was a disaster.

But something about that failure had me. I kept trying because somewhere in between all of this, I realized cooking is an essential skill that I needed in my life. So, I Googled, I watched cooking shows, I made a lot of mistakes but I learned. Slowly, over the years, I went from someone who burnt eggs like it was a sport to someone who could cook and confidently curate recipes.

Then I decided to launch my website and bring all my recipes together in one place, and for a while that felt like enough. But somewhere along the way, I realized I wanted this space to hold more than just food. I wanted to share other parts of me too, how I experience and interact with life. I wanted that space to feel slow, not rushed, not busy. It’s like a little slow café on the internet, one to wander into, read, watch, or just sit with for a little while.

“because sometimes a calm, unrushed space that holds the food, the thoughts, and everything in between is very much needed”

From that came Saffron & Sunday and it’s where I share:

Recipes: dishes inspired by cultures, people, cafes/restaurants, my own original creations or my 3am thoughts.

Tealizations & Coffeezations: a play on the word realizations and conversations which is my series of reflections on life and what it means to live mindfully.

Rituals: the morning coffee or tea that centers your day, the beauty of slowing down, the everyday habits that quietly shape us and etc.

But more than anything, it’s just a place to slow down, browse a recipe, read a blog post, or watch a video or two while you unwind.

I’m not a professional chef, I’m not a life coach, and I’m definitely not an influencer. I’m just someone who loves to cook, think out loud, and share the little things I notice. And if something here makes you feel seen or gives you a new way to look at things, then this space is doing exactly what I hoped it would.

So, if you love food and are searching for creative, diverse recipes, or if you’re someone who loves conversations about life, or you just want to join me on little adventures to cozy cafés and other places, then hey, you’re at the right place!
