A creamy and indulgent Spiced Pear & Turmeric Latte sweetened with Maple syrup and enjoyed with soy milk. It’s comforting, a little unexpected, and perfect for when you want something different. Have it as-is, or add it to your usual matcha, coffee, tea, or even hot chocolate!
Autumn and winter are really the seasons to go beyond the typical Pumpkin Spice Latte by letting the creative juices flow and think outside the box, because this is peak cozy hot beverage season. I thought so far outside the box that two ingredients I never expected to meet in a cup somehow ended up together: turmeric and pear. But hey, there’s a first time for everything, friends.
So what is this drink? Is it tea? Coffee? Milk? A weird concoction designed for world domination? No. It’s whatever you want it to be. Let me explain.
Picture this: it’s a cold day, you’re wrapped up in the comfiest blanket you own, and you want a hot drink but you are bored of the same old same old. Plain old matcha, tea, or coffee? Meh. Dirty Pumpkin Spice London Fog Latte, Masala Chai, Gingerbread Chai Latte? Not today. Saffron & Cardamom Hot Chocolate? Also no.
Enter: Spiced Pear & Turmeric Maple Latte. ✨
You get to decide what this drink is for you. Drink it as-is with soy milk, or customize it by adding matcha, tea, coffee… heck, even hot chocolate. Switch the soy milk for whatever milk you prefer. The spiced pear purée makes the drink insanely creamy (even without any dairy in the purée itself) which always scores extra brownie points if you ask me!
It’s easy to make, takes 20 minutes, and is versatile, creamy, and incredibly delicious. Plus, it has turmeric, which is known for its anti-inflammatory benefits, and it doesn’t overpower the other flavors at all. I honestly cannot wait to make this again, and I hope you try it and share the excitement with me too.

Spiced Pear & Turmeric Maple Latte with Soy Milk
Ingredients
Spiced Pear & Turmeric Puree
- ½ Pear peeled, cored and cut into cubes
- 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
- ½ tsp Ground Cloves
- 1 Fresh Turmeric (peeled and cut into small pieces) / 1/2 tsp Ground Turmeric
- ml Water or more if needed
Latte
- 80 ml Tea, Coffee or Matcha optional
- 2 tbsp Maple Syrup
- 600 ml Soy Milk or any milk preference
Instructions
- Peel, core, and cut half a pear into cubes. The pieces don’t need to be bite-sized, but they should be a uniform size so they cook evenly. If using fresh turmeric, peel and cut into small pieces.
- In a milk pan, add the cubed pear, cinnamon powder, clove powder, fresh or powdered turmeric, and water (add more water if the pears take time to cook). Cook over medium heat until the pears are soft when pricked with a fork. Remove from the heat and allow it to cool for 5 minutes.
- Using a smoothie, regular blender, or immersion blender, blend the cooked spiced pear & turmeric until smooth. Run it through a sieve to remove any remaining chunks or lumps.
- Divide the spiced pear turmeric puree equally between two large cups or four small cups. Add maple syrup to each mug.
- At this stage, you can proceed directly to the next step if you prefer the drink without caffeine. Otherwise, add your choice of tea, coffee/espresso, or matcha.
- If adding caffeine, use about 80 ml of strong tea, matcha, or coffee, or two shots of espresso, then continue to the next step.
- Froth the soy milk (or any milk of your choice) and pour it evenly into all the cups. Lastly, add a sprinkle of cinnamon powder (optional) and enjoy!
